Four pillars. One complete cricketer.
Almost every player who plateaus has fixed one pillar and ignored the other three. This is the whole framework, shown rather than described.
Each pillar fails differently.
A beautiful technique that falls apart at 5 for 40. A player who reads the game brilliantly and cannot execute. Somebody with both who cannot get through a season. Different pillar, different fix.
Craft
Technique that repeats under pressure rather than looking correct in a net. Setup, trigger, base, release. The test is whether it survives a genuinely quick bowler on a Saturday.
What breaks: the player who bats well in the nets and averages 12.
Game Sense
Which bowler to take on and which to see off, what the field is telling you, when the boring option wins. Mostly pattern recognition, and it trains faster than most coaches think.
What breaks: the talented player who gets out the same way every third innings.
Mindset
What happens between deliveries. A pre-innings process, a reset after every ball, and a way through the three weeks where nothing is working.
What breaks: the player whose technique disappears the moment it matters.
Engine
Movement quality, workload, recovery, and the habits that make the other three stick. The least glamorous pillar, and the one that decides whether anything changes.
What breaks: the player who improves for a month, then stops.
What a real week looks like.
An in-season week for a club player across all four pillars. About four hours outside matches, and most of it is not in a net.
Mon
EngineRotational mobility, 8 min.
MindsetWrite up Saturday: one thing that worked, one that did not.
Tue
CraftClub nets. One technical focus only, the one from your plan.
Film 10 balls, side on.
Wed
EngineStrength, 40 min.
Game Sense20 min of your own match footage at 0.5x.
Thu
CraftThrowdowns or shadow work, 20 min. Same focus as Tuesday.
Fri
MindsetRun the pre-innings routine for real, at home.
EngineMobility. Light.
Sat
MatchPlay. No technical thoughts. Process only.
Sun
EngineRecover properly. This counts as training.
Every program is built from an assessment, so your week will not look like this one. The point is the shape: small, specific, and mostly outside a net.
What feedback actually looks like.
Most coaching sites ask you to buy on trust. This is an example of what comes back after you send a clip. Two or three things, never twenty.
At 0:14 and 0:31 the front foot lands pointing at cover. That shuts the hip, which is why both those balls went square. Fix: shadow work with a cone outside the front foot, ten minutes, twice this week.
You were worried about it. It repeats in all 20 balls. Not the problem.
At 0:52 you go hard at a ball you had left twice. Same dismissal as three weeks ago. That is Game Sense, not technique, and it is worth more runs than the foot.
This week: cone drill only. Send me ten balls on Thursday.
Start with an assessment.
